Announcement: April is going to be a busy month; there are several important dates that are approaching us fast. First up will be April 22, there is a parent meeting scheduled @ 7:00 to update everyone on the pool project, again you don’t want to miss this, I am very excited about the news, and no we aren’t moving locations again (ha ha). With the meeting, we will have 2 practices in the afternoon, 2:30 and 3:20. If either of these times is difficult to make please come to practice late, I don’t mind. 13 and over may use Sr. mornings as a replacement practice. Next up we have the awards banquet on April 24 at
Monday Meeting Recap: Monday was a big meeting for everyone. Not only did we talk about the announcement coming up but we talked more about the season and of course our goals.
After a great end to the short course it’s time to plan for the short season of LONG COURSE. With the weather warming up, school almost out and the summer distraction just around the corner it’s time to get focused for another championship run, 13-15 weeks away! With all these temptations and distractions it’s easy to lose sight of your goals, let your goals drive you to a new level of excellence that was set during this short course season. It’s no secret that very successful people are great planners and became successful because they had great plans. Here are some helpful tips used by the most successful swimmers here at Poseidon:
Ø Plan to swim at the highest level championship meet in which you currently qualify Ø Plan to swim at the next level championship meet…just in case you qualify Ø Plan to swim if you are away visiting another town (hit the pool with another team) Ø Plan your practice schedule for the week ahead…don’t make it a day to day process Ø Plan your practice schedule to fit your commitment level( doubles are available) Ø Plan your breaks at the end of the season, not during…remember no practice in August
The summer is too short not to have a plan. We should be planning ahead for every week. To have your most successful season to date you must make planning part of your training. Don’t forget, goal sheets are due to me be May 1st. Challenge yourself to strive for more than you ever have before. Get fired up for another successful season!! |
