| Monday Meeting 4/28 |
|
Announcement: Goal sheets are due Thursday May 1. If all goal sheets are in there will be some polo played next week. Jeff Rouse meet is this weekend, so there will be no practice Saturday May 3rd for all Age Groups, Neptune, and Triton. Warm up times will be posted soon, but for some general knowledge about the meet 12 and younger are in the morning while 13 and over are in the afternoon.
One side note about the meet; since the meet is very large they have decided to put a cap on all of the 200 and over events. This has affected some of our swimmers, I have a list of the changes I made to the entries and will have it with me it at the meet. It’s not many but they had to be made.
Monday Meeting: Surviving Vs. Conquering. Why come to practice? Are you there to practice, just make the intervals? Are you there to conquer and beat practice? Sometimes just showing up is not good enough anymore. The older and longer you swim there has to be a purpose to every practice. You must strive to improve everyday, don’t just get faster, do things better, an example of this, better stroke counts with faster times.
Challenge your self everyday, whether that is to make an extra practice at the weeks end or to try a new interval at practice. Be aware of your test set results so you have a challenge for you to conquer day to day. Knowing what is going on in practice from day to day will only help you develop that conquering attitude in practice. Once you have that attitude of beating practice everyday, it will only transfer to meet performances and beating your competition.
Conquering practice builds confidence, the more times you conquer practice, the more your confidence will grow throughout the season. |
