| Monday Meeting Recap 7/7 |
|
Announcements: There are no practice changes for the weekend of Summer Awards, all age group practices will proceed as scheduled. From talking with several people recruiting is going OK, but it can be better. With the Olympic Trials just concluding, now is the time to strike while swimming is fresh on the brain. Talk up our Poseidon swimmers, and the fantastic pools we are getting.
Summer Awards warm up is now posted online. Those swimmers attending the meet please continue to take care of your body, limit the sun time, and get lots more rest. Let’s get fired up to swim FAST.
Monday Meeting Recap: With the season winding down I thought it would be a good idea to review “seven habits of highly effective people”. This is a book if anyone is interested in reading it. We kept the meeting short so here is a quick overview of the seven habits.
1. Be Proactive. Successful people get things done; less successful people are reactive to a negative or less than ideal situation. 2. Begin with the end in mind. This is exactly why we start with a goal meeting to begin the season. 3. Put first things first. Do the little things that will help you succeed in the long run of the season. 4. Think win/win. Have or carry a winning attitude at all times 5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood. This will help anyone’s communication skills. If you understand what the coach is telling you, you will have more effective time communicating on how to become a better swimmer. 6. Synergize. Become a better teammate. 7. Sharpen your saw. This refers to becoming a more rounded individual by finding a balance in self satisfaction. |
