Dear Poseidon Families,

I hope that everyone had a chance to watch the Olympic Swimming Trials recently on television.  It was terrific to see “our” new pool.  The Poseidon Foundation is planning an update to you on the progress of our new facility, which will be sent out soon.  Our team is working very hard and is in great shape heading into the long course championships.  Let’s all show the Poseidon spirit by attending the championships wearing your Poseidon attire and cheering for all of our swimmers.

The Poseidon Swimming Board recently held its July board meeting.  Here is a recap of the highlights of the meeting:

• The board voted unanimously to extend the fundraising deadline of 60% of funds to February 6^th (from December 31^st), and we have reinstated the eight installment plan (from seven) for dues, with the final payment due date of May 1^st.   The board heard your concerns loud and clear.
  
• Ted and Mike will be offering more flexibility in the Age Group practice time schedule, with the addition of a new evening practice time for those that cannot make the afternoon practice time.  Look for a Web posting on this change from the coaches.
  
• Al Thompson and John Gargula are rotating off the board effective August, having served their three year term and we thank them for their service to the team.  For those interested in learning about serving on the board, please contact me or Doug Drummond.
  
• We are working to update the language in the Membership Agreement to bring it in line with other teams.  Once this editing is completed it will be sent out to those who have returned their letter of intent for next year.   
  
• Our Recruiting Committee, led by Sue Aceino is hard at work scheduling various activities to bring in new members.  We thank all those who are helping with this effort and encourage everyone to “refer a friend”.
  
• The board is considering planning Splash for Cash for a November timeframe, rather than February, to help members fundraise earlier in the year, as well as potentially offering a second fundraiser in the spring. For anyone willing to help with these activities, please contact me, Doug or Marla.
  
• The Spirit/Social committee is in the planning stages for some activities for the entire membership.  Please look for updates on the Poseidon website.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Dan Haas or Scott Barlow.
  

There has been a tremendous amount of positive buzz occurring with all the recent activities.  Please keep providing your feedback and volunteering for all the activities that are going on.  You all are the reason why Poseidon is so great!  Have a terrific championship season, a great rest of the summer and we will see you on deck!
