Poseidon swims to 3 individual and 2 relay records at Age Group Champs!
This past weekend, Poseidon Swimming was heating up the water at the
Madison continued her fast swimming on the weekend finishing 1st in three more events and breaking the team record in the 100 fly with a time of 1:08.76 besting Olympian Katie Hoff’s record of 1:09.05.
Also leading the charge for Poseidon Swimming was Sommer Harris, who racked up 119 points for Poseidon, finishing 9th overall in points. Along the way, Sommer set one of her own team records in the 50 Breast swimming to a time of 36.00, breaking Katie Hoff’s record of 36.28. Who knows Poseidon could have 2 more future Olympians someday.
Josh Reynolds, not wanting to be left out of the record breaking party, broke the team record in the 200 back in a time of 2:16.05, lowering the mark by 2.15 seconds.
Not only did we have these individual standouts, we were able to break 2 relay records as well on the weekend. The 11-12 girls team of Harris, Erin Meeker, Boswell, and Eileen Cunningham broke the 400 Medley relay with a time of 4:59.13, lowering the old time by more than 3 seconds, they also finished in first place. The 13-14 boys team of Reynolds, Kerner, Zoldork, and Thomas Ferguson also broke the 400 medley relay record lowering the old time by 1.22 seconds. Both the 13-14 Girls and Boys relays swam to Top 16 consideration time.
Records didn’t stop there, Olivia Ross, broke another of Katie Hoff’s meet record in the 13-14 girls 100 Breast with a time of 1:13.64.
On the weekend, Poseidon Swimming had 15 swimmers record 100% best times, these swimmers included Madison Boswell, Andrew Drummond, Thomas Ferguson, Catherine Gargula, Meaghan Godwin, Caroline Henry, Travis Kerner, Alex Kesselring, Elizabeth Maltby, Katie McCauley, Kristen Meeker, Mallory Sanders, Jon Teconchuk, Albert Thompson, and Austin Zoldork.
Poseidon Swimming will be sending 8 swimmers to the Eastern Long Course Zones in
Overall Poseidon finished in a strong 4th place. The girls placed second and the boys finished in 5th. Congratulations to all who attended the meet and made this one of the most successful years in Poseidon history. The excitement is growing and the future is bright with all our young athletes. |
